The web site represents a large family of painters from St. Petersburg.
The main teacher and mentor of the painters' dynasty, which consists of Elizaveta Yuryevna Skorikova, Sergey Viktorovich Morozov, Maria Stanislavovna Molodykh, Konstantin Sergeyevich Morozov, was Yury Ivanovich Skorikov (1924-1994).
Famous Russian painter, honored artist of the Russian Federation, a representative of the traditional, classical direction, a graduate of the Russian Academy of arts, Stalin scholar, he studied in the workshops of Avilov and Gerasimov (folk artists of the RSFSR, USSR), and later he taught at the Academy of Arts.
From the mid-1950s, annually from spring to late autumn, Yu.I. Skorikov lived and worked in his house with a workshop in the city of Goryachiy Klyuch of the Krasnodar Territory. For several decades at the Creative Cottage of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR, he led groups of artists. A descendant of the Terek Cossacks, Skorikov created here hundreds of works devoted to the beauty of the nature of the Foothills, as well as numerous sketches for his main painting "The Taman March".
The author of the paintings “Etude” (1953), “Portrait of A. A. Pochinkov” (1954), “The Year of 1918th” (1960), “The Taman March” (1960), “S. M. Kirov in the Caucasus”, “Painter M. B. Grekov”, “On the Battlefield”, “In the Caucasus Mountains” (all 1964), “On the Tsaritsyn Front”, “Partisans”, “Soldier Friendship” (all 1967), “The headquarters of the Taman army” (1975), “Partisan trails” (1977), “Year of 1918th” (1980), “The Taman March. Year 1918th” (1994) and others.
At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, the works of Yuri Skorikov as part of exhibits of works by Leningrad artists were presented to European audiences at a number of international exhibitions.
The name of Yuri Ivanovich Skorikov is known, without exaggeration, to many artists and art lovers. His works are in the Russian Museum, in museums and private collections in Russia, France, Japan, China, Italy, Great Britain, Finland and other countries, and his painting “The Taman March” has become a great museum masterpiece.
In 2010, it was decided to assign his name to one of the city streets of Krasnodar.
All members of his family continue to follow the traditions of the academic school of painting.
Artists have a special regard for the creation of a portrait. This is what every canvas says. The great theorist of painting Yuri Skorikov instilled in his descendants not only the mastery of three-layer painting (very difficult from the point of view of implementation and therefore practically disappearing), but also an inexhaustible love of personality, character, whether it be a simple terek cossack, a prima ballerina, or crowned person. In each face there is an echo of time, a look through it. That is why the portraits of the painters of this dynasty speak, look, breathe, which makes the portraits that come out of their hands so alive that it is fitting to recall “The Portrait of Dorian Gray”.
